Dr.Xiuling Ma, a licensed California acupuncturist with advanced degrees from China, is one of the most highly educated professionals in the field of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), both in China and in the United States. She graduated first in her class from the prestigious Beijing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and completed twelve full years years of education in integrated TCM and Western Medicine. ÊAs part of hereducation, Dr. Ma studied directly under two distinguished TCM Masters in China--Dr. Jia-San Yang and Dr. Zi-Fu Chen, both of whom accept only one or two of the brightest and most dedicated students each year.

ÊDr. Jia-San Yang is one of the twomost highly respected TCM physicians in China today, and he is acknowledged as an international expert on acupuncture and moxibustion, with special expertise in herbology. ÊAs a result of his mastery, he was one of the very few physicians authorized to grant Doctoral degrees for acupuncture when Dr. Ma was hand-picked to study with him for three years. ÊDr. Ma's other Master, Dr. Zi-Fu Chen is a famous professor specializing in both acupuncture and herbology.

Before coming to Los Angeles in1995, Dr. Ma was a professor, physician and researcher at the Beijing University of TCM. ÊShe also spearheaded and conducted clinical research as to the efficacy of herbs and acupuncture intreating various illnesses, such as stroke, asthma, diabetes, the common coldand many others. ÊIn addition, she published over a dozen professional books and articles on various TCM subjects, including acupuncture, herbology and TCM nutrition.

As a result of Dr. Ma's reputation in China, she accepted an invitation, in 1995, to become a professor and clinicsupervisor at Emperor's College of Traditional Oriental Medicine in Santa Monica, California. ÊShe was subsequently invited to teach courses at Samra University of Oriental Medicine, and she currently teaches at both colleges.

In addition, because of her extensive education and experience in integrated TCM and Western Medicine inChina, along with the experience and respect she has gained in Los Angeles since 1995, Dr. Ma is authorized to treat patients at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and at the Daniel Freeman Hospital. She is also the Acupuncture Program Director of a research project on the efficacy of acupuncture for stroke patients, a project coordinated by the USC School of Medicine, the Daniel Freeman Rehabilitation Center and Emperor's College of TCM.

Dr. Ma also maintains a private practice (and a complete herbal pharmacy with raw herbs and herbal preparationsin the form of pills, tinctures, powders, etc.) where she treats patients with acupuncture and/or herbology for an extremely wide range of medical conditions, according to the individual needs of each patient.
